I was doing some research for a client in New Orleans recently and was reviewing the flood zones in the particular areas we were looking. I came across this rather silly flood determination – Note: Zone AE is the flood zone, and the yellow X500 zone is NOT a flood zone.
Seems to me that this is more evidence that FEMA’s flood determination policies are probably more arbitrary than scientific. I mean, what *significant* difference can that little gray area have to put it in a flood zone??
